1 Corinthians 10:11 "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
The Apostle Paul wrote under inspiration warned that, we who live at the end of this world's history, should be careful not to repeat the mistakes of OId Testament Israel as they journeyed from literal Egypt to literal Canaan.
In his warning, he recounts the history of the exodus, the protection of God's people under the cloud, the miraculous crossing of the Red Sea, the wonderful providence of God in providing manna and water in the scorching heat of treacherous wilderness.
Paul would have the reader know that God is faithful and kind and just and good.
However, as Paul continues through 1 Corinthians 10, he shows that God's people in response to God's goodness are far, very far from those Godly attributes just mentioned.
Paul brings to our attention four departures from righteousness by God's church in the wilderness that he wannts. us to pay particular attention to. I want to highlight just. one for now.
1 Corinthians 10:7 "Neither be ye idolaters , as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play."
God's people, his chosen representatives engaged in "worship" that ultimately led them to honour, show deference to, worship an image of a calf, or "the image of the beast" if I can say it like that.
And what they [ancient Israel] did, is being repeated by some within my beloved
Seventh-day Adventist church.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing let alone hearing.
How have we come to this? In whose name are we doing this? Who thought this was a good idea? Who is going to answer for this? How are we going to call people out from this, if we, are allowing, promoting and endorsing this?
But before the dust can settle and before the answers can be given, it happens again...
In order to make make the right application of what we saw, we need to go back to the Bible.
The Bible cannot lie!
In Ecclesiastes 1:9, Solomon, under inspiration, writes that "the things which have been, is that which shall be, and the thing which is done, is that which shall be done and there is no new thing under the sun."
Much, much more could be said, but I want to encourage you to study annd read for yourself, developing a solid foundation for yourself. Do not allow yourself to base your religion on anyone else's thoughts or convictions.
So here is your homework, if you'd like to do it. Read through the following chapters and verses and see the link between Old Testament Israel and God's denominated people, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2024.
Exodus 32
Numbers 3:1-4
1 Kings 17-18
1 Corinthians 10:1-12
Ellen White, another writer under the unction of the Spirit of God writes:
Men of experience have seen stealthy hands that Satan might enter; yet they have held their peace with apparent indifference as to the results. Some have been glad to see this, as it seemed an extenuation of their past neglect, which made it a necessity to call for others to fill the posts of responsibility that they had abused or neglected. This lack of watchfulness on the part of these newer incumbents seemed to excuse the former for their own want of faithfulness, as it showed that others were fully as derelict in duty. These persons do not realize that God holds them responsible for every advantage gained by the foe who is admitted to the fort. The desolation and ruin following lie at the door of the unfaithful sentinels, who, by their neglect, become agents in the hands of the adversary to win souls to destruction. Men in responsible positions should seek wisdom and guidance of God, and not trust to their own judgment and knowledge. Like Solomon they should earnestly pray for faith and light, and God will give them freely of His abundant supply.
Testimonies For The Church 211.3
Friends,
Christ has told us to to examine our foundations and make sure we are connected to the vine. Its getting more and more turbulent, the winds are picking up, other ships are being broken away from their moorings to be dashed on the rocks of scepticism and infidelity.
Will your anchor hold, will my anchor hold?
Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!
Cheer up ye pilgrims, be joyful and sing, JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!
Maranatha!
